The Virti story

Practice makes people

Virti started in a hospital, with a surgeon who knew that reading about a difficult conversation is nothing like having one. Today we give teams everywhere a safe place to rehearse the moments that matter.

Where we started

Built by a surgeon who saw that communication is a clinical skill

Our founder, Dr Alex Young, trained as a trauma and orthopaedic surgeon. In an operating theatre the technical skill is only half of it — outcomes turn on how a team communicates under pressure. Whether someone speaks up. How bad news is delivered. Whether a frightened patient feels heard.

Those skills had no simulation suite. Procedures were drilled and rehearsed, while empathy, clarity and composure were expected to appear on their own — picked up on the job, in front of a real patient, with real consequences.

That gap became Virti, on a simple insight: a high-stakes conversation is a high-stakes conversation, whichever room you're standing in. The composure a surgeon needs to break bad news is the composure a rep needs to handle a hard objection, a manager needs for a difficult review, an agent needs facing an angry customer. Listening, empathy, reading the moment, staying clear under stress — those skills transfer.

So we built somewhere to rehearse them. What began as clinical simulation now runs across sales enablement, customer service and leadership development — the same engine, the same principle: people perform better when they have already been there before.

“Every employee deserves world-class training — not just the ones with access to a simulation suite.”Dr Alex YoungFounder & CEO, trauma & orthopaedic surgeon
